#OnThisDay in 1944 Bulleid 21c11 General Steam Navigation entered service.

She was introduced, as the first of the second batch of ten Merchant navy pacifics, in SR Wartime black livery and allocated to Nine Elms shed where she remained until February 1954 when she had a brief spell at Bournemouth.
She was unique among members of her class having a different ‘bulbus’ style fairing in front of the cylinders (removed by 1948. )
Like all members of the class she was rebuilt by British Railways to a more conventional form, re-entering service in July 1959.
